Alcaraz Outlasts Fritz in Four-Set Thriller to Reach Third Straight Wimbledon Final

Carlos Alcaraz continued his Wimbledon dominance on Friday, overcoming a spirited challenge from Taylor Fritz to secure a hard-fought 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(6) victory and book his place in a third consecutive final at the All England Club.

The Spanish sensation, chasing his sixth Grand Slam title, weathered a mid-match dip and a resurgent Fritz to prevail in a tense semifinal under scorching Centre Court sunshine. After cruising through the opening set, Alcaraz momentarily lost his rhythm, surrendering his serve for the only time in the match as the American leveled the contest.

But the defending champion responded emphatically, breaking twice in the third set before holding his nerve in a gripping fourth-set tiebreak. Fritz’s powerful baseline game and relentless consistency tested Alcaraz throughout, but the second seed’s superior variety and clutch play at critical moments proved decisive.

“I had to dig deep today against an amazing opponent,” said Alcaraz after the match. “Taylor was playing unbelievable tennis, but I’m so happy to find my best level when it mattered most.”

The victory sets up a blockbuster final against either world No. 1 Jannik Sinner or seven-time champion Novak Djokovic, who face off in Friday’s second semifinal. Alcaraz could become just the eighth man in the Open Era to win three straight Wimbledon titles if he triumphs on Sunday.

Fritz, appearing in his first Wimbledon semifinal, pushed Alcaraz to the limit but ultimately fell short in his quest to become the first American man to reach the final since Andy Roddick in 2009. “I left everything out there,” said the 13th seed. “Carlos was just too good in the big moments.”

With his electrifying athleticism and fearless shot-making, Alcaraz has now won 21 consecutive matches at Wimbledon as he looks to cement his status as the new king of grass-court tennis.
