Nigeria No Longer Has Any Ebola Contact Under Surveillance-Minister Of Health

Nigeria has scored a major victory in the fight against Ebola as the country has officially been declared disease-free.

This was revealed by the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu through his media aide, Dan Nwomeh.

Mr. Nwomeh announced via Twitter (@DanNwomeh) that all the contacts under surveillance have been released after showing no signs of infection.

He said:

โ€œNigeria no longer has any #Ebola contacts under surveillance. All contacts have completed 21 days of observation and discharged

Minister of Health: Remaining 25 #Ebola contacts in Nigeria located in Port Harcourt area have been discharged from surveillanceโ€

This comes after the World Health Organization declared that Nigeria and Senegal had basically contained the disease.

21 Ebola infections and 8 deaths were recorded in Nigeria after index case, Patrick Sawyer died on July 25 in Lagos.
