The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the top scorers for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with Okeke Chinedu Okeke from Anambra State emerging as the highest scorer with 375 out of 400. JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this during the 2025 Policy Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
Okeke, who selected the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as his preferred institution, aims to study Mechanical Engineering. Following closely is Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who scored 374 and chose Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), also opting for Mechanical Engineering. The third-highest scorer, Abdulmalik Olayinka Jimoh from Kwara State, secured 373 and picked UNILAG for the same course.
Notably, all top three candidates are male, with Mechanical Engineering being their preferred field of study. Among the top ten performers, Olawepo Tunmise Gertrude from Kwara State was the only female, scoring 373 and selecting Computer Science at UNILAG.
Other high achievers include Roberts Ayibo Damiete (Rivers), Ononugbo Chibueze Chigozirim (Enugu), Afenitan Leslie Ofeoritse (Delta), Azoyenime Samuel Chukwuemeka (Delta), Oyebode Emmanuel Oluwapelumi (Ogun), and Omigie Cecil Osaigbovo (Edo), all scoring between 372 and 373. Their chosen courses range from Electrical/Electronic Engineering to Aerospace and Petroleum & Gas Engineering.
JAMB has officially released the list of top performers, highlighting the academic excellence of candidates across various states and institutions. The results underscore a strong inclination toward engineering disciplines among Nigeria’s highest-achieving UTME candidates this year.
