Two abducted Kogi doctors regain freedom

Two doctors, Yahaya Ebiloma and Kelechi Mgbahurike, kidnapped last week in Kogi have regained freedom.

Ebiloma of the Zonal Hospital, Ankpa, and Mgbahurike of Christ the King Hospital, Anyigba, Dekina LGA, were kidnapped on different dates.
While Ebiloma was reportedly abducted on Tuesday, October 6, Mgbahurike was kidnapped on Wednesday, October 7 from his hospital in Anyigba by gunmen.
Confirming their release to newsmen on Sunday, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said tEbiloma was released by his abductors on Friday 9th October 2020 at around 11 pm while Mgbeahurike was rescued the following day by the Nigerian Police Safer Highway Patrol team, Ankpa Division.
According to him: โ€œIt would be recalled that on 7/10/2020 one Dr. Ejike Emmanuel Mgbeahurike of Christ the King Hospital Anyigba, was reportedly kidnapped and whisked away by unknown gunmen at Anyigba.
โ€œConsequent upon that, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji ordered for an intensive manhunt and ensure the victim is rescued unhurt.
โ€œActing on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, the Safer Highway Patrol team of Ankpa Division while on routine patrol duty along Ojogobi/Ogodo axis rescued a man in a bush along Ankpa/Anyigba road who turned to be Dr Ejike Emmanuel Mgbeahurike of Christ the King Hospital Anyigba.
โ€œHe was secured to the Police Station while efforts are being intensified to recover his vehicle.โ€
