The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said that its troops had uncovered and destroyed new camps being used by the Boko Haram and Islamic State West African Province terrorists in the Kajeri area of Borno State, rescuing two women and three children from the insurgents.

According to the army, the troops of 112 Task Force Battalion on clearance operations killed “more members of the crouching Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists on Tuesday” when they raided a cluster of established camps along Kajeri village in the state.

The acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sagir Musa, whose phone was unreachable to reply to other enquiries on troops in the North-East, stated in the release that a thorough search of the camps resulted in the recovery of two dane guns, eight cartridges, two torches and one bicycle.

Musa said, “Furthermore, two women and three children suspected to have been kidnapped by the terrorists were rescued by troops around the bushes of Kajeri and Saleri villages. The rescued women and children will be handed over to the appropriate agency for further action.

“The camps were destroyed and burnt down by the troops, while they advanced further and cleared the surrounding dispersed localities in the general area of Kajeri and Saleri areas of the state.”
