Shoppers at a Tesco in Thailand, fled in panic after a giant lizard
entered the store and refused to leave despite being pushed by pieces of
cardboard.
Shoppers at the Tesco in Ban Khlong Nung, recorded the incident that unfolded near the entrance of the store.
The video shows the giant lizard identified as a Varanus, resting on the
ground next to the automatic doors and refusing to move.
Shoppers are then seen fleeing the store and screaming.
Eventually, two employees of the supermarket grabbed some pieces of cardboard and tried to push the lizard out the door.
The reptile did not leave without a fight, swinging its tail in an
attempt to get the employees to back down. After a few minutes of
shoving and pushing, the lizard walked out into the parking lot.
Nobody was injured as a result of the incident, but animals rights
groups criticized Tesco, saying that they should have called animal
control officers to deal with the lizard instead of hitting it with
cardboard.
