A mother and her boyfriend was arrested on a charge of child abuse after
being accused of killing her son because he did not want to eat his
breakfast, according to police in Singapore.
Now, 41-year-old Zaidah has been sentenced to serve 11 years in prison
while her boyfriend, 46-year-old Zaini Jamari, has been sentenced to
serve 10 years in prison after they were both convicted of child abuse
and causing grievous bodily harm.
According to the police investigation, 2-year-old Mohamed Daniel Nasser
was tortured to death by his pregnant mother and her boyfriend because
he did not want to eat his breakfast.
The worst of the abuse occurred on the day that the couple hit and
kicked the boy after he refused to eat breakfast. They stomped on his
chest and force fed him dry chilli peppers.
They repeated the punishment at night before the child went to bed,
where he was found dead the next morning. An autopsy showed that the
child had 41 external injuries, including bruises on his chest and legs.
Zaidah claimed the child fell in the bathroom and hit his head.
