A journalist was arrested on a charge of indecent assault after
allegedly groping the breasts of a street cleaner who told him that he
cannot throw his home trash in a public garbage bin, according to police
in Zimbabwe.
Harare police said that they have arrested 39-year-old Nkosana Dlamini,
after being accused of beating and sexually assaulting the Harare
Municipality street cleaner who was working at the Montague Shopping
Centre.
Dlamini, who is a journalist at Radio VOP, was charged with indecent
assault and assault. He was booked into jail, and his bail was set at
$20.
According to the police investigation, on Monday around 7:00 a.m.,
Dlamini exited his vehicle, holding a bag of trash. He walked over to
the garbage bin of the shopping center and threw his trash inside.
The street cleaner advised Dlamini that it was illegal to throw household trash into the shopping center garbage bins.
Dlamini became violent and grabbed the breasts of the woman.
He then threw her against the bin. Dlamini then picked up a stone and
threw it at the woman, hitting her right shoulder. The woman was taken
to a hospital, where she was treated and released.
