The company that operates a website for cheaters, admitted that it has used female robots to chat with men.
Ashley Madison said that although it used female robots in the past, the
company no longer uses them despite its widespread deployment in the
online dating market.
The female robots were used to send messages to men, and got them to spend money in order to have conversations with them.
The men thought that they were cheating, but in reality, they were just talking to a computer.
The parents company of Ashley Madison, Avid Life Media, revealed that it
hired a team of independent forensic accounting investigators to review
the previous business practices about robots, and the relationships of
male and female members who were active on the site.
These investigators found that Ashley Madison used robots in the United
States and Canada until 2014, and kept using them internationally until
last year.
