People in the United Kingdom, are angry after a wife who blinded her husband in one eye and ripped his scrotum, walked out of court a free woman.
Devon police said that they have arrested 51-year-old Catherine Collings, after being accused of lifting her husband, Andrew Collings, by his testicles, causing the scrotum to rip.
Now, Catherine has been giving a two year suspended sentence after she pleaded guilty to two counts of inflicting grievous bodily harm and three counts of causing actual bodily harm.
According to the police investigation, the couple had been married for 30 years and have a several children.
On one occasion, Catherine got angry at her husband, who suffered from abuse throughout his marriage, and she poked both his eyes.
Andrew went to the hospital with a dislocated lens in his left eye, and his right eye was also damaged.
He told the surgeon that he had fallen into a ledge in order to protect his wife, but later told the truth when the doctor confronted him with evidence of an assault.
Andrew told police that his wife will not stop attacking him because she was enjoying it. Catherine admitted that she had attacked her husband, but blamed her husband for provoking her.
She also confessed to grabbing him by his testicles in another incident.
In addition to the suspended sentence, the judge issues an indefinite restraining order, keeping Catherine away from Andrew for the rest of his life.
