The Nasarawa State Police Command has paraded 81 suspects arrested for various criminal acts, including involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping and cultism.

Most of the suspects were arrested at Mararaba Udege, Odu Hills and Gidan Kwano areas in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.

Parading the suspects at the state Police Command Headquarters, Lafia, on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Bola Longe, said the arrests were made by a combined team of policemen and members of sister security organisations working under the auspices of the state branch of the Operation Puff Adder.

He said, “In the past eight days, we have arrested 82 suspected criminal elements. Sixty-two suspected kidnappers were arrested in Mararaba Udege area of the Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state noted for kidnapping activities.

“Twenty-three suspected kidnappers were arrested on two occasions based on actionable intelligence, and thereafter in Toto LGA of the state, 39 suspected kidnappers were arrested based on intelligence.”

The police boss also revealed that 25-year-old Mrs Naja’atu Mohammed, a food vendor, was also arrested for serving as the caterer to the suspected kidnappers.

Longe explained that 19 suspected cultists and gangsters were also apprehended around the Karu Local Government Area of the state on April 27, 2019.

According to him, all the suspected cult members have been charged to court and have been remanded in the Karu Prison.
