The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested ten suspected armed robbers and four illegal firearms manufacturers in a series of coordinated operations across the state.
Police spokesperson Mansir Hassan confirmed the arrests, revealing that eight locally made guns, sixteen cartridges, three vehicles, and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects.
Among those apprehended were Sanusi Bala from Zamfara State and Nura Bala from Zaria, who were caught attempting to rob a tricycle operator. During interrogation, the duo confessed to belonging to a syndicate specializing in stealing commercial tricycles, which they later sold to an accomplice, Jamilu Zurmi, in Zamfara. Police investigations led to the recovery of three additional vehiclesโa dark blue Golf III Wagon (ABC-152-AL), a green Golf III Wagon (ABJ-900-RE), and an unregistered dark blue Golf III Wagon. Authorities are intensifying efforts to arrest Zurmi and other fleeing gang members.
In a separate operation, police arrested five suspectsโAhmed Umar, Isah Musa, Zailani Saโadu, Abdulrahman Mukhtar, and Ibrahim Saโaduโfor robbing a resident of Unguwan Sanusi in Kaduna South LGA. The gang stole a Toyota Corolla and other valuables before selling the vehicle to Garba Yaro, a notorious receiver based in Maradi, Niger Republic, who remains at large.
Meanwhile, in Makarfi LGA, police raided a firearms fabrication ring, arresting four suspectsโHassan Ibrahim, Murtala Yakubu, Shuaibu Abubakar, and Ismail Shuaibu. Recovered items included three locally made rifles, incomplete rifle frames, cartridges, live ammunition, and fabrication tools.
In another breakthrough, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested three suspectsโRabilu Lawal, Sirajo Shuaibu, and Shehu Sarkiโlinked to the abduction of a woman in Kwatakore village. Two locally made guns and cartridges were seized during the operation.
The police also apprehended additional robbery suspects at Kano Road, Kaduna North LGA, following intelligence reports. All suspects are in custody as investigations continue to dismantle their criminal networks. The Command reassured the public of its commitment to tackling crime and urged residents to report suspicious activities.
