An Air Peace flight veered off the runway upon landing at Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday, though all passengers exited the aircraft unharmed.
The incident involved Flight P47190, which arrived from Lagos before experiencing what the airline described as a “runway excursion.”
Air Peace spokesman Osifo-Whiskey Efe confirmed the event in a statement, clarifying that the aircraft “veered slightly off the runway without any damage.” He emphasized that all passengers disembarked safely and no injuries were reported. The airline reiterated its commitment to maintaining strict safety protocols.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) also addressed the incident, with spokesperson Obiageli Orah confirming the safe evacuation of all 127 passengers. FAAN warned travelers to anticipate possible delays for departing flights from Port Harcourt as authorities assessed the situation.
This marks the second runway-related incident involving Air Peace in recent months. In May, one of its aircraft collided with an antelope while taxiing at Asaba International Airport, disrupting flight operations. A similar runway excursion also occurred at Port Harcourt Airport in 2019.
Authorities are investigating the latest incident to determine the cause.
