Russian drones attacked the southern Ukrainian port city of Izmail for the second consecutive night, causing damage to infrastructure, Kyiv reported on Thursday.

Ukrainian officials also claimed that several Russian drones breached Romanian airspace during the assaults.

Since withdrawing from a UN-Turkey-brokered grain export agreement last year, Moscow has persistently targeted ports in the southern Odesa region.

In Izmail, local authorities reported damage to port infrastructure and noted that two civilians were injured. The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that Russia launched 38 Iranian-designed attack drones, with air defense systems intercepting 25 of them. Additionally, three drones were lost after crossing into Romanian airspace.

The governor of the Odesa region, which borders Romania, stated that an administrative building was damaged in the latest attack. The day before, three people were injured in a similar strike on Izmail.

Following the attack on Wednesday, Romania’s military conducted a search for drone debris near the Ukrainian border. Residents in 17 cities and villages in Romania’s southeastern Tulcea county received alerts about “several objects” approaching the area, and explosions were reported.
