Liverpool have completed the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig on a five-year deal, subject to a work permit.
The Hungary playmaker is the Reds’ second major acquisition of the summer following the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton last month as Jurgen Klopp continues the revamp of his midfield department.
The 22-year-old told Liverpoolfc.com, saying: “Itโs really, really good. I enjoyed the last [few] days and Iโm looking forward to knowing everybody better.
“The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy. But at the end Iโm here, Iโm happy and I canโt wait to get started.
“[A] really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good.”
Liverpool reportedly triggered Szoboszlai’s release clause at Leipzig worth around ยฃ60million.
That would make the 22-year-old maestro the Reds’ third-most expensive signing in history, behind only Virgil van Dijk and Darwin Nunez.
Szoboszlai joined Leipzig in January 2021 from Red Bull Salzburg, however, he was unable to debut for the Bundesliga outfit until August of that year due to injury.
The 37-cap international managed to make 31 league appearances in each of the last two German top-flight seasons, though.
Last term, Szoboszlai scored six goals and tallied eight assists in the Bundesliga, while also recording five goal contributions in the DFB-Pokal to help Leipzig win the trophy for the second consecutive campaign.
