President of the Assembly of the Republic Zorlu Töre stated that  the general assembly of the Assembly of the Republic will convene extraordinarily on September 13, upon the request of President Ersin Tatar.

At the meeting, he said that he would hold an extraordinary meeting on the Cyprus issue before going to New York upon the call of President Ersin Tatar. Töre said, “I think the main opposition will agree, common sense requires it.

“The Minister of Parliament, Zorlu Töre, made evaluations on the agenda.

Speaker Töre, who was a guest of the “Headline +” program broadcast on BRT, stated that he expected the main opposition Republican Turkish Party to follow a more conciliatory path on the issue of municipal reform, but on the contrary, he pursued policies that would create a serious tension and tried to gain political rent.

Töre said that “CTP Chairman Tufan Erhürman and his friends occupied the podium to influence the public opinion and the high court.”Asking why they are making such a tense opposition without resorting to law.

Töre stated that the speech, which should have been held for 15 minutes, was extended up to one hour, and noted that this was an act contrary to the parliamentary rules of procedure and that psychological pressure was exerted on him to take a break.

Töre, who stated that he did not interrupt the general assembly and that he took ownership of the process, that the internal regulations of the assembly gave him this authority.

Töre also made statements regarding the municipal reform. Töre emphasized that the local elections will be held on 27 November and said, “Even if they want some items to be renegotiated, eighteen municipalities will not change.”

Töre stated that some parties have started preparations for elections on the basis of 18 municipalities, and that the election bans will begin on September 28. Stating that the bills related to municipalities continue to be discussed in the relevant committee.

Zorlu Töre noted that the bills are related to the strengthening of the structures of the municipalities, so he does not think that there will be tension-creating negotiations.

Töre also responded to the criticisms about the general assembly having a holiday. Töre said, “Most of the deputies were members of the committees, so I can’t say that the deputies took a vacation.

As the speaker of the parliament, I go to Turkey once in a while, but we are on duty every day, the parliament has not been passive this summer.

Our work in the assembly continued, the committees continued, the proposals from the government were discussed, laws were tried to be made, there were those who moved to the committee, that is, some laws became ready.

When the parliament opens on 1-3 October, a lot of laws will be right next to us, and an intense work will begin”.

Töre also noted that the general assembly will convene extraordinarily at the request of President Ersin Tatar.

Töre stated that on September 13, the general assembly, upon the call of President Ersin Tatar, will hold an extraordinary meeting on the Cyprus issue before going to New York and said, “I think that the main opposition will participate, common sense requires it.”

Töre also emphasized that the internal regulations of the assembly must be followed in order to maintain the internal order of the assembly, and said, “Deputies have to comply with the speaking times, so we have developed a system in this direction.

I hope we will put this system into action in the new period. Töre said, “Let’s establish the parliamentary working order, give up this occupation of the lectern, stop prolonging these speaking times, violating them”.
