The suspect AA, who was arrested on charges of “Forgery of Official Documents, Circulating False Documents, Entering the Military Forbidden Zone Secretly and Without Permission”, was arrested and brought before the court.

Police officer Ozan Özder, who gave sworn testimony in court, said that 37-year-old AA, who he cites as a journalist of Russian nationality, continued to circulate by giving his fake Belgian identity card issued in the name of “Adam Gazviriev” with his picture on it, to an immigration officer in order to be able to leave the TRNC.

In the investigation conducted on the matter, he came to the Republic of Cyprus from Larnaca Airport in 2017 and asked for asylum due to political reasons, but learned that he would be returned to Russia without being granted asylum, on 9 July 2021 he secretly entered the TRNC in a black taxi whose license plate he did not remember.

He stated that it was determined that he had been living in the TRNC for about a year and that his friends had obtained a fake Belgian identity card so that he could go to Turkey.

The police demanded that the suspect be kept in prison for a period not exceeding 2 months, saying that the suspect was arrested in the act of redemption and that the investigation was completed.

Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Hazal Hacımulla ordered the suspect to be held in prison for a period of not more than 2 months.
