The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has expressed shock and sadness over the demise of a former lawmaker, Senator Patrick Enebeli Osakwe. 

Senator Osakwe who represented Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2011, reportedly died on Tuesday, aged 73. 

Describing the deceased as a renowned politician, businessman and elder statesman, Senator Omo-Agege said his death was ‘shocking and painful’. 

According to the Delta Central lawmaker, Senator Osakwe gave a good account of himself in the Red Chamber between 1999 and 2011. 

“I received with shock and sadness, the news of the passing of Senator Patrick Enebeli Osakwe, a renowned politician, businessman, bridge builder and elder statesman. 

โ€œSenator Osakwe served his fatherland diligently at the highest level of lawmaking. His contributions as a three-time Senator, who served in the Senate Committees of Appropriation; Niger Delta; Gas as well as Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions where he influenced the construction of several projects in his constituency and beyond would remain evergreen in our hearts,” he said. 

He commiserated with the family of the deceased, the Ndokwa nation, Delta State Government, friends and political associates over the unfortunate news. 

Specifically, he urged the family members to take solace in the good works of their father, grandfather and great grandfather while praying for the repose of his soul.
