NYSC seeks SOKAPU’s supports for Trust Fund

The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim has called on Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union to support the National Youth Service Trust Fund.

The Director-General who was represented by Director,  General Services of the Scheme, Mr Emmanuel Attah made the call in Abuja while receiving a delegation from Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union, Nigeria and Diaspora, led by its President, Honourable Jonathan Asake.

The DG said, the Scheme is committed to reducing social vices and the challenges of post service unemployment in the society which the NYSC Trust Fund that has received support from critical stakeholders is set to achieve.

According to him, if the bill is passed into law, it will address the infrastructural deficit of the Scheme; provide start-up capital for Corps Members to drive their skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development initiatives; channelled towards upgrading Orientation camps facilities; as well as training and retraining of NYSC Personnel.

Speaking earlier, the President, Southern Kaduna Peoples’ Union (SOKAPU), Nigeria and Diaspora, Honorable Jonathan Asake congratulated the Director-General on his promotion to the rank of Major General, while also commending his leadership style. 

He described the DG as a detribalized Nigerian, and a leader worthy of emulation, adding that “The DG has been doing well for the NYSC Scheme and humanity.”

Continuing, he stressed that Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim has distinguished himself as patriotic nationalist who deserves the recognition accorded to him by Nigerians by his promotion to the rank of Major General.

Asake, a one time legislator promised to mobilise members of the upper and lower chambers of the parliament from his area to support the passage of the NYSC Trust Fund into law for the empowerment of Nigerian youths for self reliance.

The Acting Director, Special Duties, Alhaji Musa Abubakar and others were among officers of the Scheme that attended the function.
