The Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC) for Oyo State, Barr. Mutiu Agboke, has urged the State Government to support the Commission in its efforts to sensitise the electorate about the ongoing Online and In-Person Registration exercise in the State.
The REC stated this today when he paid a courtesy visit to the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde at the Governor’s office, Secretariat Ibadan.
Barr.Agboke stressed the need for the state government to join the Commission in encouraging the electorate to register. This is against the background that only 20,609 registrants have so far completed their registration out of 56,498 persons that pre-registered online.
He added that there were 721,888 Uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) out of a total number of 2,934,107 registered voters in the State.
Responding, Engr. Makinde commended the Commissionโs Office in the State for the way it conducted the 2019 General Election, stressing that electorate”s vote counted.
He promised to support the Commission in its sensitization drive, adding that electronic transmission of results by INEC would go a long way in ensuring credible, free and fair general election in 2023.
Present at the occasion were members of the State Executives, INEC Management Team, Electoral Officers and a host of others.
