A Gombe State High Court presided over by Justice M.A. Abubakar on August 20, 2021 convicted and sentenced one Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu to five years imprisonment on a three count charge of cheating, possession and use of forged documents brought against him by the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The convict was said to have sometime in July, 2020 obtained the sum of N2, 200,000.00 (Two Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira only) from the complainant for the sale of a house at Federal Low Cost Housing Estate, Gombe.

To make the deal look legitimate, the convict issued the petitioner with a forged Right of Occupancy with No.BA 1658 bearing the name of one Alhaji Abba Abubakar.

Upon his arraignment, Adamu pleaded guilty.  The Court thereafter convicted and sentenced him to 1 year imprisonment or a fine of N20,000 ( Twenty Thousand Naira ) on count 1; 2 years imprisonment or a fine of N30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira)  on count 2 and  two years or a fine of N30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira) on count 3.

He was ordered to pay restitution to the victim in the sum of N300, 000, being the balance of the N2, 200,000.00 involved in the scam.
