The people of Amanuke in Awka North Local Government of Anambra State on Thursday dumped their planned protest and went into frenzy, as a Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State, freed their traditional ruler, Igwe Dennis Ezebuilo, from detention.
The monarch regained freedom seven days after he was allegedly abducted in Abuja and brought to Awka by some people believed to be security operatives over a community tussle.
But yesterday, the Federal High Court, presided over by Justice Hyeladzira Nganjiwa, freed the monarch on self- recognizance.
The charges against him read: โThat you, Dennis Ezebuilo, on or about the 31st day of December 2019, at Amanuke in Awka North Local Government of Anambra State, within the jurisdiction of this court, did unlawfully and with intent to promote inter communal war, incite some members of Amanuke community into believing you as His Royal Highness (Ogbodudu II) of the community by bringing division among the Amanuke community, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 42 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C38 Laws of the Federation, 2004.โ among two other counts
