The Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. Akan Okon lauds Effiat Ikpoto Clan Council of Chiefs for the peaceful coexistence in their various Communities.
Mr. Okon gave this commendation in a meeting yesterday with a delegation made up of all the executive members of the council.
He siezed the opportunity to assure the Effiat Communities of Government’s resolve to carry them along in the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
Akan Okon disclose that all host Communities and local government will not be left out during the planning for the Deep Seaport project, promising to put their interest into consideration.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Effiong Ekpenyong, commended the council of Chiefs and members of the communities for seeing peace as their watch-word and ensuring that nothing destabilizes the up coming positive development and transformation of their communities through the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
In their responses, the leader of the delegation and clan Head, AkaraIkpoto IV Effiat Clan His Royal Highness Obuong Asukwo Okon Okpo; the village Head, Inua Abasi and Chairman of the Council, Chief Ibok Abasi Okon; the village Head,Akwa Obio and Vice Chairman of the Council, Chief Inyang Effiong Etim, said the event has accorded them the opportunity of acknowledging the effort of the government for the approval of Ibom Deep Seaport, and pledged their support and reign of peace for the actualization of the project.
The meeting also had in attendance other members of Effiat Ikpoto community, Stakeholders of the clan, among others.
