Governor Uzodimma commission a 5000BPD Modular Refinery

The nation Nigeria and Imo State in particular has achieved a historic milestone as Gov. Uzodimma on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari Commissioned the first ever Modular Refinery in Nigeria sited in Imo State, with production put at 5000 Barrel Per Day. 

Governor Uzodimma expressed delight and commended the oil giant, Waltersmith Group for successfully building the Modular Refinery with a program plan to expand to 50,000 Barrels per day.



He further appreciated them for leading the way in changing the narrative from a public sector driven economy to a private sector driven economy. 

Governor Uzodimma however admonished the company to ensure that the community in which the operate continue to have a feel of their presence through an effective corporate social responsibility scheme .

He also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his determination to change the narrative of the oil industry for the better by ensuring private sector participation in driving the economy to make Nigeria better. 

President Buhari in his address disclosed that the 5000 BPD represents one of the 4 key elements of the oil sector reform road map rolled out in 2018 which addresses the challenges in the down stream sector to meet the local needs and eliminate importation of petroleum products.

Earlier, the Chairman, Waltersmith Group, Mr. Abdulrazaq Isa addressing the audience disclosed that the Facility is designed to produce 207 million liters of petroleum products annually.

He also disclosed that the Refinery has already delivered 5 million liters of Petroleum products into the Nigerian economy.
