CNS lauds FOC logistics command for completion of vital projects

Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas has commended the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) and personnel of the Logistics Command on the tremendous transformation and landmark achievements at the Logistics Command Headquarters within a short period of time.  

This was stated by Rear Admiral Oladele Daji, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Lagos, who represented the CNS at the commissioning ceremony of numerous projects at the Nigerian Navy (NN) Barracks, Oghara on Fri, 27 November 2020. 



The Projects commissioned were; 1,722m x 11m asphalted road network   and 1,212m constructed trapezoidal drainages around the Barracks.   

Others are; completed and fully furnished gymnasium named after Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete IBAS and furnished 3 blocks of 4 x one bedroom junior officers’. Additionally, a furnished block of 7 rooms junior rates transit a named after as well as the institutional house for the Chief Boatswain Mate (CBM) were commissioned.

The CNS added that the completed roads and drainages have greatly improved the aesthetics of the Barracks while the completed blocks of accommodation will not only ameliorate shortages currently experienced but also ensure that personnel of various cadres are accommodated as appropriate.  

The CNS pledged to continue to support the Command’s efforts towards completing more abandoned buildings in the Barracks to accommodate personnel. He expressed appreciation to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, the Minister of Defence and the Chief of Defence Staff for their continued support to the NN.

The FOC Logistics Rear Admiral Sirelanda Lassa, in his remarks stated that the Command embarked and completed these projects with support of the Naval Headquarters as a result of Command’s responsibility towards promoting basic physical and material wellbeing of its personnel. 

Rear Admiral Lassa thanked the CNS, for his commitment to the realization of these projects and the approval to honour some past FOCs Logistics Command by naming some buildings after them.
