Governor Hope Uzodimma, played host to Anglican Bishops of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, led by the Archbishop David Onuoha.
While receiving the Bishops numbering 12 at the Sam Mbakwe expanded Exco Chambers Government House Owerri, Gov. Uzodimma commended them for their spiritual role in praying for the development of the State.
The Governor disclosed that COVID-19 virus pandemic has posed a challenge in the affairs of the State, but God has continued to use them to liberate the State from economic meltdown.
He stated that out of 21,000 pensioners, 19,000 has been verified and paid, opining also that out of 6,000 Imo workers been owed, that 4,000 has been verified and paid.
Uzodimma, stated that the essence of the verification is to ensure that their is optimum service delivery to the workforce both pensioners and civil servants, while assuring that in the next few days all verification will be concluded.
Earlier in his speech, the Anglican Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Archbishop David Onuoha,commended the Governor for the way he has handled the affairs of the State in the past few months in power, especially in this era of when the globe is faced with the challenge of the pandemic.
Archbishop Onuoha, further stressed that Gov. Uzodimma, has continued to show leadership qualities in handling the affairs of governance in the State,in the area continuing valuable projects, programs and policies of his predecessors, while admonishing other leaders to emulate his leadership qualities.
Also he praised Uzodimma in the area of stamping out corruption and fraud in the pension and salary payroll, however called on him to ensure that all verification is concluded soonest.
