Following gradual reopening of international airspace globally, the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 on Wednesday, 2nd September 2020 met with ambassadors from countries with high records of the virus.
The meeting which was held in Abuja, it was learnt was part of the preparation for the reopening of the countryโs airspace for international flight scheduled for Saturday 5th September 2020.
The airspace had been shut to international flight since March 2020 following the global lockdown as part of the measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting, it was further gathered was aimed to inform the envoys from such countries the countryโs new travel protocols.
Nigeria had earlier announced that it would apply reciprocity policy when the airspace is opened.
This was in response to some countries placing Nigeria among the list of countries to be denied entry.
The meeting with the ambassadors was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama through a tweet.
Onyeama according to the tweet met the ambassadors in the company of the National Coordinators.
He said, โMet with the National Coordinator, #PTFCOVID19, Dr. Sani Aliyu and Ambassadors of Countries with high rates of discordant #COVID19 test results.โ
