Governor Hope Uzodimma has taken one step further in ensuring the provision of good water and sanitation to the people of Imo state as he commissions the new office of the Imo State water and sewage Cooperation which was recovered from past Administrations.
The Shared Prosperity Administrator stated that the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sector has always identified the aspirations of the shared prosperity Government to improve the lives of the people.
“What the State Water and Sewerage Corporation is doing is noteworthy as they are working tirelessly to provide succor for the citizens who have over the years suffered to gain access to safely managed drinking water.” The Governor stated.
The Governor pointed out that his 3R Government has been creating the enabling environment for the WASH sector growth and development through collaboration and partnership with international donor Agencies.
He remarked that On the 17th of June 2020, the State Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with USAID for the Implementation of the EWASH project in Imo State.
Governor Uzodimma also pointed out another giant move of his Administration for the good of Imolites as the State Government on the 6th of September 2020, signed a letter of commitment for expression of interest to participate in the World Bank funded Sustainable National Water Supply and Sanitation project, this is in addition to the ongoing World bank assisted 3rd National Urban Water Sector Reform Project, that the State had paid 61million counterpart contribution commitment for.
“Todayโs commissioning of this edifice is a culmination of that effort. I am indeed delighted to be identified with these efforts.” Governor Uzodimma stated.
“The idea for this project is for our interest and the interest of the humanity” Governor Uzodimma stated.
Mr. Eutycus John, State Team Lead for USAID funded EWASH project in Imo State, in his opening remarks, commended Gov. Hope Uzodimma for bringing Development in 8 months of his Shared Prosperity Administration to the Cooperation which was not so in past years, as they now have a befitting facility with their laboratory that is now of International standard.
Mr. Eutycus John also appreciated His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma for his commitment to develop the partnership between Federal Ministry of Water Resources and the USAID.
Adding to the contributions of His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma to the Development of Imo water and sewage Cooperation, State Team Lead for USAID funded EWASH project in Imo State stated that the Governor approved and paid the counterpart contributions for the World Bank assisted project.
He did not leave out the recently signed MoU with USAID for the supply of clean water to Hundreds of thousands of Homes in Imo State.
