Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has warned that his administration will deal with anyone caught abusing and dehumanising women and girls through various forms of violence.
Sule stated this Thursday at the occasion of the launch of the Nasarawa State action plan on the domestication of the United Nations’ Security Council resolution (1325) on women peace and security.
“It is disheartening to recall the recent incident in Adogi, Lafia East Development Area, where an infant was raped, leaving the child and the parents in agony and traumatised.
“-Let me take the liberty of this occasion to condemn the recent spate of rape in our society, this phenomenon has adverse effects on our children, especially, the young girls.
“This, no doubt has become an issue of grave concern, bearing in mind the traumatising effects of these unfortunate situations, which will not only affect their wellbeing but will also affect their education.
“This will also expose them to risks and hazards associated with HIV/AIDs, unwanted pregnancy and other sexually transmitted infections.
