COVID-19: Delta’s index case among three discharged patients, says DELSUTH CMD

Delta’s COVID-19 index case has been discharged after testing negative to the dreaded virus.

The index case, alongside two others were discharged on Thursday.

Chief Medical Director of Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Dr. Onome Ogueh, confirmed the development, Friday, in a press release which was issued by the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Iteme.

It will be noted that the index case which was recorded on April 8, was treated at the isolation centre in (DELSUTH), Oghara.

Ogueh disclosed this while addressing the State COVID-19 Case Management Team led by Dr. Ann Ojimba and the State representative of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Otoh Daniel at the university.

The release stated, “he (Dr. Ogueh) thanked the DELSUTH COVID-19 response team for their commitment in the treatment and care of the patients in spite of the dangers to themselves.

“He thanked the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye for their proactive approach and support to the isolation/treatment centre which resulted in the quick recovery of the first set of discharged patients from the centre”.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Government has recorded another case of Coronavirus in Ika South council area of the state.

The patient is reportedly a 29 year-old fruit seller.

This rounds off the active cases of the dreaded pandemic to 13, while the number of confirmed cases in the state rise to 23.

Commissioner for information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, during a radio programme, assured that the new case is already undergoing treatment in one of the state’s treatment centres.
