Four new coronavirus cases were confirmed in North Cyprus on Thursday.

This brings the number of cases to 81.

The four cases were detected in Kyrenia, Famagusta, Lapithos and Karpasia.

So far, two people died in the north both German tourists; one last Saturday and one on Wednesday. Both had underlying health conditions.

In the meantime, criminal complaints have been filed against some people in the north who tested positive for coronavirus but lied about their contacts during tracing.

‘Deputy prime minister’ Kudret Ozersay said in a written statement that some patients who tested positive for Covid-19 were found to lie about their contacts or deliberately provide false information. Ozersay said this was a crime and offenders were liable for up to two years in prison if found guilty of putting public health at risk.
