Unknown gunmen kill two, injure three Policemen in Katsina

Unknown gunmen believed to be bandits on Sunday killed two persons and injured three policemen during an attack on the residence of 50-year-old Alhaji Sa’adu Dan Bagalo of Kofar Kudu, Kaita LGA of Katsina state.

It was also gathered the gunmen abducted him during the attack.

A statement by spokesman of the State Police Command Superintendent Gambo Isa said the bandits, armed with AK47 rifles, were confronted by a Police Patrol Team attached to Katia Division who responded to the scene and gave them a hot chase into the bush.

He said: ’’As the chase got closer, the hoodlums can no longer sustained the tempo, they killed the victim and one Bawale Inusa, aged 58yrs of the same address and escaped through the bush path.

‘’One Police officer and two others sustained various degrees of injuries during the fierce encounter. Detectives led by DC CID, KTS, are combing the scene and surrounding bushes with a view of unraveling the full identity of the perpetrators. Investigation is ongoing’’.

Also, men of the Kano Zone of the National Agency for Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP) have handed over 23 youths and three women to Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari at Government House Katsina.

NAPTIP Zonal Commander for Kano, Malam Shehu Umar, told Governor Masari that the people arrested were Katsina citizens and were arrested on November 13 at AYA junction in Abuja while being ferried to Keffi in Nassarawa state by one Malam Akilu Liman, who is undergoing investigation.

He further disclosed Malam Liman has transported another 40 persons to Kebbi.

He stated 16 of the children aged 6 to 19 were from Kankia, 4 from Katsina main town and 3 from Niger Republic while the three women who were arrested at Aminu Kano Airport on their way to Saudi Arabia for slave labour were also from Katsina State

A visibly shocked Masari called on parents and citizens of the state to join hands with him in the war against human trafficking.

He promised to liaise with traditional rulers in the state, and carry out investigations to confirm the identities of the children and their parents.
