Police dislodge robbery gang in Enugu, kill one, arrest three

The Enugu state police said it has smashed a notorious armed robbery gang on Sunday at Udi local government of the state.

The spokesman of the command, Superintendent Ebere Amaraizi, said in a bulletin that one of the robbers was shot dead while three others were arrested while in action.

According to the police bulletin: โ€œA gang of suspected notorious armed robbery gang that have been a thorn on the flesh of the members of the public within udi/Agbudu/Ozalla road axis of udi local government Area of Enugu state were on 17th November, 2019 in the early hours smashed by men of the operation Puff Adder of the Udi Division of the state police command acting on a well gathered and coordinated intelligence information.

It was gathered that the suspected hoodlums had allegedly blocked the road with woods and other items and were already in their nefarious activities when the operatives ran into the road block mounted by the suspected hoodlums.i

It was further gathered that the suspected hoodlums had engaged the operatives in a gun duel but were overpowered by the operatives who later got one of them critically wounded and who was later confirmed dead.

After the encounter, the operatives started combing the bush and later arrested three of the suspected hoodlums who gave their names as Nweke Monday of no 10 new Jerusalem bunker Enugu , Destiny Onwe of Aria road Enugu and Nweke Sunday of Ugwuakpu bunker Enugu.

The state commissioner of police Ahmad Abdurrahman has directed for a full scale investigations into the incident just as suspects are now helping the operatives in their investigations.โ€
