A political group under the aegis of Okara Political Group, yesterday held a two million man march in support of the re-election of Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and his deputy, Edward Onoja, in Lokoja.
The exercise, which covered about three kilometres, beginning from Lokongoma Phase 1 to the Government House, was attended by members of the group and All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters from the 21 local governments.
Addressing the crowd at the Government House, Governor Bello assured them that their efforts and struggles to return the APC to Lugard House would not be in vain.
He appealed to them to conduct themselves peacefully and orderly during the campaigns and on the election day.
The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, said he would consolidate on his achievements if given another mandate.
โI am assuring you that if you do the needful in the forthcoming governorship election, I will not forget any of you. It is a fact that since the creation of Kogi State in 1991, this is the first administration that recognises youths in terms of appointment, and we will do more in our second tenure by the special grace of God almighty,โ he said.
The organiser of the march, who is also the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to the Governor, Abdulmumuni Okara, said the forum is a campaign outfit to mobilise Kogi people to vote for Bello and his running mate to enable them continue good governance.
He said: โThis administration has embarked on rigorous civil service reform, constructed roads across the three senatorial districts, provided free medical outreach to the rural dwellers and rehabilitated structures in primary and secondary schools.
โThe Governor Bello administration has performed tremendously under four years and the people are prevailing on him to come back and consolidate on those achievements.โ
