The speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly, Collins Chiji, has congratulated the state governor, Emeka Ihedioha, on his victory at the Elections Petitions Tribunal on Saturday.
The speaker who spoke after the justices upheld Ihedioha’s electoral triumph, hailed the jurists for their courageous verdict.
Chiji said that Ihedioha’s victory at the polls in March was “non contestable” and enjoined the opposition to join the governor in rebuilding the state.
He equally commended the Peoples Democratic Party on what he described as “victory for Imo people”.
The speaker said ” I want to commend our governor for his victory at the Tribunal on Saturday. This victory is a further indication that our governor was dully declared by INEC.”
“I equally congratulate our great party, the PDP for putting up a great fight in defending our mandate at the Tribunal. This victory is gladdening and it shows that our governor and party are generally accepted across the state.”
“The judiciary by this verdict has shown once again that our democracy and constitutionalism are improving. The bravery, the courage and professionalism in delivering this judgment are commendable.”
“I also urge our brothers at other divide to close ranks and join our governor in rebuilding Imo state of our collective dreams. We can jointly move Imo forward if we can swallow our pride and share ideas for an egalitarian Imo state.”
