The Ogun State Government has set up a committee to review the contracts and projects embarked upon by Governor Ibikunle Amosun in the twilight of his administration.
The 11-member committee has President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Adekunle Mokuolu as its chairman. The Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Sunday Adeyemi, will serve as the secretary.
Other members include Oshiberu Remi(civil/structural engineer), Dunni Opayemi (architect), Ade Akinsanya (civil engineer), Jamiu Akande Omoniyi (Special Adviser, Housing), Fari Bayo(quantity surveyor), Dipeolu Kayode (quantity surveyor), John Obafemi(quantity surveyor), Mr. A.A Oyefeso, (legal counsel) and Akinlabi Oluyomi (architect).
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, who made this known in a statement, noted that the committee is expected to carry out the assignment in line with its terms of reference.
The committee, according to Talabi, is to identify all outstanding significant construction/projects in the state, ascertain whether or not there was budgetary provision for the projects in the budget estimates for the year under review, ascertain the process of award of contracts in line with the established procedures and necessary regulations and to determine the level of execution and quality of the output of the projects.
Others terms of reference include assessing the disbursement pattern in line with the established process and procedure, recommend any viable pathways for the completion of the project, or in the alternative, determine other actions including, but not limited to reversal or cancellation of the contract that best align with the intent of the state government and advise the state government appropriately on such other matters considered necessary by the committee on these projects.
