An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded in prison, a man, Bidemi Mojuba, accused of stabbing a sex worker to death, following a disagreement over payment.
Magistrate O. A. Olagbende made the order at the instance of the prosecution.
She remanded the defendant at Ikoyi Prison pending advice by Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Olagbende ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the DPP.
She adjourned till September 24.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Clara Olagbayi alleged that the defendant committed the offence on July 1, at his home on Corporation Estate, Amuwo Odofin.
She alleged that the defendant took sex enhancement drugs before going to solicit for sex from the deceased, simply identified as Charity, at a nearby hotel.
Olagbayi alleged that when they got home, Charity insisted on payment before service.
An argument ensued following which Mojuba allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Charity multiple times.
Also on Tuesday, an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court ordered that a 38-year-old bricklayer, Kehinde David, be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons following his arraignment for allegedly defiling his wife’s 14-year-old sister.
Magistrate B. O. Osunsanmi ordered the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
She adjourned till August 7.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ezekiel Ayorinde said the defendant committed the offence on June 6 at his home.
He said the defendant beat up the minor and defiled her.
