The Registrar of the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management, CITM, Olumide Adedoyin, on Tuesday May 21, 2019, called for a robust collaboration between the Institute and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the fight against economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.
Olumide, made the call while leading a delegation of its members to the Kaduna zonal office of the EFCC, during a courtesy call to the commission.
He also commended EFCC for the fight against cyber crimes and other related internet crimes stressing that the EFCC has the capacity to make this country a better place.
โWe are here to partner with the commission in the fight against corruption. Financial crimes have slowed down the economy of this country and we believe EFCC, has the capacity to make this country a better place”, he stated.
โOur partnership is to help in having a free corrupt society. The only way to achieve this is to have a safety ethics mechanism in place because ethics are keys to the financial management of our resourceโ.
According to him, civil servants help politicians to siphon pubic resources meant for the development of our country adding that itโs important that all hands be on deck to put a strong mechanism in the fight against corruption.
Responding, the Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, through the Zonal Head, Kaduna office of the EFCC, Mailafia Yakubu, appreciates the Instituteโs concern to partner with the commission in the fight against corruption while thanking them for the visit.
Mailafia urged them to furnish the Commission with every necessary information that will assist in curbing corrupt practices.
โLetโs do the right thing by following proper accounting procedures so that our country will be a better place”, Yakubu said.
