Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has declared his readiness to abide by the outcome of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.
He stated this while speaking with journalists after casting his vote at his Kofar Ajia polling unit 011 in Tambuwal town of Tambuwal Local Government Area.
He said, โBy the special grace of God, I am fully ready to accept the outcome of the election. From the reports I get on the field, everything seems to be going on perfectly, except for some few hitches.
โBut generally, the process is going on very well and we hope both INEC and the security agencies will continue to give their best.โ
After a long wait, Tambuwal, who is contesting for his second term in office arrived the polling unit at about 12:17pm and cast his votes amidst cheers from voters at exactly 12:28pm.
However, his arch-challenger, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, of the APC, who voted at the Magajin Rafi Tundunwada polling unit 019A in Sokoto South LGA, expressed optimism of emerging victorious after the polls.
While acknowledging the impressive turnout of voters, Aliyu also commended INEC for early arrival of voting materials throughout the state.
Ahmed said, โThe reports I have been receiving so far, indicate that everything is going on smoothly and peacefully. Kudos to the electorate, INEC and the security agencies.
โI believe that very soon, my fellow contestants in this race to govern our dear state, will begin to congratulate me.โ
Senator Wamakko, who also spoke to journalists immediately after casting his vote at the Gidan Jaโoje polling unit in Wamakko town, commended the electorate for their peaceful conduct in exercising their franchise.
โThere is no need to cause any trouble, as that will not take us anywhere.
โIn politics, there must be a winner and a loser. Anybody who loses should wait for the next four years to try his or her luck.โ
