The All Progressives Congress in Abia State has rejected the result of the governorship election being in the state.
The state governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Okezie Ikpeazu, won the election.
The campaign manager of the APC governorship candidate in the state, Mr Kelechi Ugwuaja, made the partyโs position known.
Ugwuaja alleged that security operatives and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission colluded with members of the PDP in the state to scuttle the election.
He called for the cancellation of the election.
He claimed that the candidate of the APC had won the election at different polling units before the process was reportedly taken over by the PDP officials at various collation centres.
Ugwuaja also accused the state Resident Electoral Commission, Dr Joseph Iloh, of being aware of the irregularities perpetuated by INEC staff and the PDP officials.
He said, โINEC and security agents moved against our party. Our candidate was winning everywhere until INEC and security agents moved in and took away electoral materials to rewrite the result of the election.
โWe cannot accept what is going on in the state. If nothing is done to stop the process, we will make this state ungovernable.โ
Meanwhile, some APC supporters in the state took to the streets in Umuahia, the state capital, to protest the outcome of the election.
The protesters asked that election in the state be cancelled and a new date be announced.
