Suspected killer father, kidnap kingpin, others paraded in Cross River

A man, who allegedly killed his son and a kidnap kingpin were among the 28 suspects arrested for various offences and paraded by the Cross River State Police Command on Thursday.


The 40-year-old suspected killer father, Okon Emmanuel, an indigene of Akamkpa Local Government Area, was reportedly arrested for beating to death his eight-year-old son, Etebong, for eating the porridge meant for the two of them.

The suspected kidnap kingpin, Michael Etim, aka, Aso Rock, 27, was described as a former militant, who along with his gang members, were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the Bakassi Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Commissioner, Austin Agbonlahor, who spoke with journalists through the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, shortly after parading the 28 suspects, said their arrest followed painstaking efforts by men and officers of the command.


Other suspects paraded for various offences included six persons arrested for armed robbery, eight for murder, three for stealing/conspiracy and one for alleged involvement in militancy.

Others were nabbed for involvement in cultism, kidnapping, impersonation/forgery, defilement and unlawful possession of firearms.

Agbonlahor said six locally-made pistols, live ammunition, charms, television sets, two 100KVA generators, and two J5 buses with number plates ABJ 719 XNX and SKA 306 XA were recovered from the suspects.
