Saraki wins polling unit for PDP

Senate president Abubakar Bukola Saraki votes at polling unit 005/006 Agbaji Quarters, Ajikobi Ward, Ilorin West LGA, Kwara State.

Senate President Bukola Saraki on Saturday won his Agbaji quarters, Ajikobi unit 005 for his party; the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.


In Agbaji, the results showed as follows; presidential APC 68 and PDP 219; Senate APC, 60 and PDP 269. In the House of Representatives election, APC got 53 and PDP 253.

In polling unit 006, Ajikobi ward in the residential poll, APC polled 152 and PDP 234; Senate APC 120 and PDP 270. In the House of Representatives election, APC got 130 and PDP 269.

At Ilesha Primary School, Ilesha Baruba, the state deputy governorโ€™s unit, results showed presidential PDP 39 and APC 190, Senate; PDP 48 and APC 191, House of Representatives; PDP 40 and APC 199.

In Ilorin East, Gambari Ward 1, unit 013, Ode Ile Eleran, APC scored 294 while PDP scored 85 votes.

There was impressive turnout of voters in the state as many of them trooped out to polling centres before the 8am time of the election

In Ilorin, the state capital, the turnout was huge and the exercise held under a peaceful atmosphere in most polling units.


There was however the complaint by electorate and politicians  of inadequate presence of security agents at the polling centres

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, seeking reelection on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, expressed satisfaction with the voter turnout.

Saraki spoke with journalists shortly after voting at Opobiyi polling unit (005/006), in Ajikobi ward in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state. Saraki voted alongside his wife, Toyin, mother, Florence and eldest son, Seeni at 10.20am.

Also, the governorship candidate of the state All Progressives Congress, Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq, described the voter turnout as impressive.

Abdulrasaq, who voted at Idi-Igba polling unit in his Adewole ward, noted that the card readers didnโ€™t function well in some, urging the electorate to be patient and calm.
