Corruption Fight Yielding Dividends, says Magu

The Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has said that the fight against corruption is yielding dividends across all sectors in Nigeria.


Magu gave this positive disposition during the courtesy visit of members of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN at the EFCC Head Office, Abuja on February 4, 2019.

Commending the contribution of ANAN, Magu said, โ€œThe involvement of the association in the fight against corruption and related vices, by promoting the whistle-blowing campaign amongst its members and the general public via platforms such as print media, social media and programmes is laudable and shows great teamwork in the anti-graft warโ€.

โ€œThe robust disciplinary mechanism which ANAN has put in place, such as a code of ethics for professional accountant will aid to curb internal corruption; this is a solid mechanism that will enable professionals to do the right thing,โ€ he said.


He added that: โ€œIn Nigeria, we have a government that promotes accountability and good governance.โ€

In his remarks, the ANAN president, Shehu Laden appreciated the good work of the EFCC describing the fight against corruption as a โ€œherculean taskโ€.

On the delegation were members of the ANAN Governing Council โ€“ Prof Muhammad Mainoma, first vice president; Prof Benjamin Osisioma, second vice president; Zuwaira Kishimi, Anthony Nzom, immediate past president; James E. Neminebor, Treasurer. Also included were the Mandatory Continous Professional Development Programme, MCPD committee members โ€“ Audu Ohida, Chairman; Olufemi Jogunade, Secretary and Ibrahim Makut, Vice President.
