First Lady Aisha Buhari has called on the people of Adamawa State to vote for incumbent governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow and other APC candidates in the 2019 general elections.
Aisha’s brother, Dr. Halilu Modibbo, had contested for the party’s governorship in the 2018 primaries, and Bindow’s emergence as the party candidates had angered the First Lady, making her to call out the party leadership.
However, at the Adamawa rally on Thursday, Aisha noted that “politics should be played with maturity and tolerance for the future of our dear state.”
She also pleaded with the electorate to vote for her husband as he seeks reelection via the forthcoming presidential election scheduled for Saturday, 16 February, 2019.
The First Lady who is the chairperson of APC Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team, made the plea at a campaign rally in Yola.
Hajiya Buhari, represented by a former Military Administrator of Lagos State, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd); and chairman of the Central Working Committee (APC Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team), urged the people to vote the APC at all levels in the coming elections for their benefits.
A copy of her speech read on her behalf by Marwa was obtained by journalists in Abuja on Friday.
“Put aside your differences and grievances to support the party and our governorship candidate, Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow, as well as other APC contestants to clinch the state,” she pleaded.
Marwa added that the First Lady wanted the people to know that Governor Bindow and her brother, Modibbo, “are both the same to the First Lady and regard them as her brothers.”
