Four people were feared killed yesterday when robbers attacked a new generation bank in Ijero-Ekiti, the headquarters of Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The hoodlums reportedly killed two policemen, a bank worker and an aged person during the attack, which occurred about 4:30pm.
The robbers were said to have invaded a police station and killed two policemen on duty, while the chief security guard of the bank was shot at the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) gallery.
A bullet fired by a member of the gang killed an aged man.
The robbers reportedly came in through Aramoko Road in an ambulance with a casket containing weapons.
Besides those killed, other bank workers and customers at the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) gallery sustained injuries.
An eyewitness said the robbers announced their arrival with gunshots, which made people to scamper for safety.
They reportedly blew the bankโs security door with a dynamite to gain access to the banking hall.
They were said to have stolen unspecified amount during the raid, which lasted about one hour.
The heavy shooting paralysed activities.
