The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Kaduna Zonal office on Wednesday, 26th September, 2018 arraigned one Ahmadu Abdullahi before Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court on a one count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust to the tune of N3, 308, 500.00 (Three Million, Three Hundred and Eight Thousand, Five Hundred Naira) only.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and prosecution counsel, E.K Garba urged the court to remand the accused in prison custody pending trial.
The accused is is alleged to have defrauded the complainant, Nwafor & Sons Nig. Ltd by fraudulently representing that he had some trucks of salt for sale purportedly from a company in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Investigations revealed that upon receipt of the said amount, the accused outrightly refused supplying the agreed commodity and all efforts by the complaint to recover the money proved abortive.
Justice Khobo directed that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the matter to the 30th of October for hearing of bail application.
The count charge reads: “That you Ahmadu Abdullahi sometime in 2006 in Zaria within the jurisdiction of the Kaduna State High Court, being entrusted with property to wit: N3, 308, 500 by one Nwafor & Sons Nig. Ltd for the purchase of bags/trucks of salt, did dishonestly convert to your own use in violation of legal contract which you made in regard to the said sum and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 311 of the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State and punishable under Section 312 of the same Law.”
