The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has enjoined people from the zone who are disturbed by the threats of members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other pro Biafra agitators, to ignore such and embrace the new dawn in Igbo land.

In a statement by Chief Emeka Atamah the media adviser to the President General, Nnia Nwodo, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo solicited for unity among Ndigbo, reminding the people that “this is not the first time the empty threats of the misguided elements fell through as its threat to disrupt the Anambra State elections last year came to naught.

The election witnessed unprecedented turnout and peacefully went in favour of Governor Willie Obiano.”

It said that the success of the Igbo Summit was resounding, adding that the only observed noise was the one “by some obviously rented women at the venue who, in any case were ignored by both the audience and security operatives as their noise amounted to nothing.”

The release further said: “In any democracy, the majority will always have its way with whimpers from the minority as it will always be the case in a matter where Ohanaeze Ndigbo has the unalloyed and overwhelming support of the generality of Ndigbo. We urge the few dissenting voices to fall in line.”

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo reiterated its resolve to pursue the fight for the restructuring of the country and other issues that will advance the interest and well being of Ndigbo to logical end.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo once more, extends its hand of friendship to IPOB and call for dialogue as the path they were following would only lead to further spilling of Igbo blood for a cause that can be peacefully fought and realized. Enough blood of our children have been shed in pursuit of the cause,” the organization stated.
