Ogun State Government have began the distribution of mosquito in the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs).
This followed the kick-off of the exercise last Friday in Abeokuta, the state capital, by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
The distribution witnessed a large turnout of residents at various distribution points in all the local government areas.
In Abeokuta North East LCDA, the distribution started at Sokori Health Centre, where the Chairman of the LCDA, Taofeek Olabode (Talent), urged the beneficiaries to use them to kick malaria from the state.
He warned the recipients against misusing the nets.
The council chief noted that the nets had been proven as a cost-effective means of fighting malaria.
The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Officer in the area, Mrs. Shola Adeoye said the residents had been given proper orientation on the use of the mosquito nets.
Also, the Amoore of Olomore, Alhaji Liafisi Adedeji Ogunrounbi, hailed the CRS, the donor, Global Fund, and the state government for the nets.
He said they would go a long way in eliminating malaria from the state.
Baale Ogunrounbi said: โI want to commend the government, CRS donor, Global Fund, for this net distribution in the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state because our people have embraced and participated in it and I believe that this will largely reduce the rate of malaria in the state.โ
