The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, #EFCC, on Friday, May 11, 2018, graduated 314 cadets of the Detective Superintendent Course 7, at the Nigerian Defence Academy parade ground, Ribadu Campus, Kaduna.
The colourful passing-out-parade climaxed 13 months of rigorous training to avail the officers with the necessary skills of law enforcement.
Addressing the officers, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was the Special Guest of Honour and the Receiving Officer, represented by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, urged the operatives to see themselves as worthy ambassadors.
โYou should consider yourselves lucky, not only for being able to complete the training, but for being adjudged worthy in character to be recruited into the EFCCโ, he said.
While congratulating them for the successful completion of their training, he urged them to respect the rights of people and remain fearless, and to be professional in their conduct, paying attention to every detail.
He warned them to โresist temptations, shun corruption, and be contented with their salaries and allowances, as being operatives of the Commission, is not a safe haven to corruptionโ.
His words: โIt is appropriate to warn here that being operatives of the EFCC is not a haven for corruption. You are going to face a lot of temptations. You will be tempted to pervert the course of justice with monetary rewards and promises.
โI advise you to be above board and resist all the temptations. You must be contented with your salaries and allowances. Any of you who fails to heed this advice, will be hunted down, arrested and prosecuted as being officers of the EFCC does not confer immunity on you against arrest and prosecution.โ
Ibrahim Magu, the acting EFCC chairman was commended for “his achievements so far in the fight against corruption, as you have changed the narratives of the fight in Nigeria, through vigorous tracing and recovery of stolen assets and prosecution of persons, hitherto considered as untouchables”.
