Three suspected robbers burnt to ashes in Benue

Three suspected armed robbers at Adikpo, headquarters of Kwande local government area of Benue state as they were beat to stupor and jungle justice meted out on them.

The incident, according to eyewitnesses, happened around 10am on Tuesday when the suspected robbers who attempted to rob a filling station and people within the premises were destabilized by a young man who was said to have noticed that the robbers had exhausted their bullets.

According to an eyewitness, the suspected robbers had stormed a filling station located at a popular โ€˜Yโ€™ junction around 10am on Tuesday to carry out their nefarious activities.

It was further gathered that as soon as the suspected robbers stormed their target, they asked people within the premises of the filling station to lie face down and at the same time shot sporadically into the air.

โ€œAt the time they asked for the cashier of the filling station, it is like someone noticed that they might have exhausted their bullets, then the man went straight and hit the one with the gun, this step destabilized them and they attempted to run away.โ€

โ€œThe gut displayed by the young man gave them out, as they were trying to escape some youths and motorcycle operators apprehended them, beat hell out of them and were burnt to ashes,โ€ said the eyewitness.

Confirming the report, the new sole administrator of the council, Mr. Teryila Iorhemen said that the robbery happened at a filling station located at popular โ€˜Yโ€™ junction which is about 150 meters to the All Progressives Congress, APC secretariat.

It was learnt that the town in recent times had been a den of suspected armed robbers who on daily basis terrorized people in the town, particularly, filling stations which they said had made the operators to close as early as 8pm everyday.

The state Police Public Relationsโ€™ Officer, PPRO, ASP Moses Yamu who confirmed the incident said that police have commended investigation into the matter but advised members of the public not to take law into their hands.
